Ampo, Tanah Liat Panggang Khas Tuban

Bagi warga Tuban, Jawa timur memakan tanah liat panggang tak berbeda seperti kita memakan stik coklat. Makanan dari tanah liat yang diberi nama “Ampo” ini sudah menjadi makanan tradisional yang dipercaya masyarakat Tuban dapat menguatkan sistem pencernaan. Bahkan memakan tanah liat juga dipercaya sebagai obat yang dapat mengobati beberapa macam penyakit. Penduduk desa percaya ampo adalah pembunuh rasa sakit yang alami, dan itu membuat kulit bayi lembut, jika dimakan oleh ibu yang sedang hamil.
Rasima, sang penjual Ampo, mengatakan bahwa tidak ada resep untuk memasak tanah tersebut. Dia hanya mencari tanah yang bersih yang bebas dari kerikil, kemudian ditumbuk dan dipadatkan sehingga berbentuk segi empat. Kemudian, mengikisnya dengan stik dan membentuknya seperti gulungan. Tanah yang sudah menggulung itu kemudian dibakar dan diasapi selama 1 jam, lalu jadilah sebagai snack atau makanan ringan yang siap dimakan. Rasima biasanya menjualnya dipasar dengan harga 1 kg 3000
Rasima biasanya menjualnya dipasar dan sehari dia bisa mempunyai penghasilan sekitar Rp 20 ribu untuk menghidupi keluarganya. Tuban merupakan satu-satunya tempat di dunia yang memakan tanah panggang. Memang ada orang-orang lain di dunia yang suka makan pasir, dan benda aneh lainnya, tapi tidak ada yang memakan tanah panggang. Salah seorang warga Tuban mengatakan bahwa dia sudah memakan ampo sejak dia masih kecil dan ampo mendinginkan perutnya. Berikut ini cara membuatnya :

1. Pisahkan Tanah Liat Dengan Kerikil dan Pasir
AmpoPada tahap ini tanah dipilah-pilah antara yang lembut dan yang kasar. Seperti halnya membuat adonan jajanan, maka keseragaman tanah menentukan kenikmatan dan kepulenan cemilan yang dihasilkan nantinya.

2. Bentuk Tanah Menjadi Kotak-Kotak
Kalau kita membuat kue ada istilah kalis, ya disini juga demikian, membuat adonan tanah liat menjadi bentuk kotak menunjukan bahwa adonan sudah kalis.
Kalis sendiri berarti komposisi tanah dan air sudah merata pada setiap bagian adonan. Ciri adonan tanah liat yang kalis dilihat dari sudah tidak lengket pada telapak tangan.

 3. Bentuk Stick/batangan
Tanah liat dibentuk menjadi stik, jika anda lihat sepintas pembuatannya mirip dengan pembuatan wafer stick atau astor.
 
4. Bakar Tanah Liat
Setelah tanah liat dibentuk menjadi stick, kemudian dipanggang diatas tungku tradisional sampai mengeras dan kering. Seperti terlihat pada gambar, tanah liat diletakkan diatas wajan dengan pemanasan tungku dan kayu.
 

5. Disajikan
Setelah semua proses dilalui maka tanah liat siap disajikan di meja untuk jadi teman ngobrol dan nonton.

In my opinion, this cake Ampo harmful to the body. but because it is not clean, the cake can also contain worms are harmless to the body that can take our bodies. should, Ampo cake is not suitable for consumption. however, due to lack of available food, they are forced to consume it and become accustomed to. should have the government pay more attention to citizens and provide counseling barbahayanya Tuban take the land.
